While this is some old-school tech, a CD player is a great way for kiddo to have control over their own music without holding a very expensive phone/iPad. Pull out some of your favorite holiday CDs or even burn one for a retro take on your favorites. The one pictures is simple and sturdy, key elements in kiddo’s musical success.
2. Phlat Ball
This ball can be used as a frisbee or ball and can be played with as a pop-up toy. Bonus points for being able to reference Daniel Tiger’s splat ball.
3. Town Map Rug
For the longest time, we didn’t want to get one of these because of the commitment to a rug. HOWEVER, it was a game changer to realize… it can be rolled up and stored away, especially if we purchased a smaller one! These rugs are a great way for kiddo to drive cars, play people, and explore the different parts that make up a town.
When we asked family what they wanted for their toddler, we head back ‘a rocking horse she won’t fall off of.’ Mission accomplished- this rocking horse is a classic and low to the ground, so younger toddlers have a sturdier footing.
5. Rain Gear
A treat for toddler kiddos is gear to play in the rain, which can be expensive! A rain coat, umbrella, and rain boots make a great gift that will absolutely be used.
6. Zoo Membership
There’s nothing like a stroll through the zoo enjoying the sights and sounds while tiring out your kiddo. A yearly pass to anything like a local zoo, aquarium, play place, etc. is a great gift that kiddo is able to use many times! If you want to include something to unwrap with the membership, you could gift some animals or an animal ornament!
In the spirit of tiring out kiddo during the cold season, stepping stones are a great way to create obstacle courses, play the floor is lava, etc. The stones linked above are stackable, which helps with storage space.
8. Wagon
A toddler-sized wagon is not only adorable, but a great way to let kiddo practice taking care of baby, working in the garden, or moving toys to and fro.
This racetrack is simple enough for an older toddler to manage, but provides opportunities to build for hours.
10. Baby Doll
Any kiddo will enjoy caring for a baby, and can use existing blankets/toys to create a house to start imaginative play.
